Today, we’re looking at two shredders; The Sun Joe CJ601E as well as the Worx WG430 Shredder. Now, these are both products that are of pretty great quality. We’re looking at those differences. From this information, you’re going to be able to figure out which one of these wood chippers is the right product for you!

Sun Joe CJ601E 14-Amp Electric Wood Chipper/Shredder

Let’s start with the Sun Joe CJ601E. As you can tell by the title of the product, it uses a 14-Amp motor, and it is designed for chipping and shredding wood.

Having a 14-Amp motor is a wonderful feature. It enables the CJ601E to more effectively trim bigger pieces of wood, in a timely manner. Using the device, you can place branches that up are to 1.5-inches thick, and you won’t have any problems whatsoever.

More often than not, the CJ601E is best used for twigs and smaller branches. Now, that isn’t to say it can’t handle bigger branches, but it isn’t designed for that.

Part of this is due to its compact and lightweight design. For a wood chipper, it’s light. It is coming in at only 26 pounds. Portability is also a factor since the device has wheels. So, you can move it around without having to pick it up and strain your back and shoulders.

Now, going back to the 14-Amp motor, it can generate up to 4,300 revolutions per minute. While less than some, that is still quite a few revolutions. Because of this, it works quickly and very efficiently. Making it very easy to turn all of the assorted yard debris that you have into mulch. Which, of course, you can recycle to help your garden grow and develop.

Ultimately, the Sun Joe CJ601E is a pretty simple machine. It works very well. It’s fast. Efficient. Safe. And while it doesn’t have many of the extra features that more expensive models have, it is simple. Very simple. Which, for a wood chipper, is certainly nice!

Worx WG430 13-Amp Electric Leaf Mulcher/Shredder

So, unlike the Sun Joe CJ601E, the Worx WG430 is designed for leaf mulching and shredding. It also has a 13-Amp motor, rather than a 14-Amp motor.

Now, to some, the 13-Amp motor may seem like a disadvantage, especially in comparison to the 14-Amp motor of the Sun Joe CJ601E. However, the WG430 isn’t shredding wood; it’s shredding leaves. And that is exactly why this is such a great device!

Using the 14-Amp motor, you can mulch up to 53 gallons of leaves in just a single minute. There is a bag that you can purchase, for a very small cost, and this bag can serve as an excellent debris bag. It is reusable, and a very convenient way to store the mulched leaves.

The motor is also very easy to use. With the press of a button, you can turn it on. With the press of a button, you can turn it off.

As for the mulching system itself, it doesn’t use any blades. Instead, it uses a thick trimmer line that serves as a very effective, and simple, way of mulching and shredding the leaves. Turning it into something that is more than useful for your garden.

The line diameter is 0.09 inches. But, the cutting diameter is 13 inches, which means that you have a fair amount of flexibility with this device.

One thing to note is that you do need to assemble this device. It does not come pre-assembled. However, it’s a simple device, so you don’t need any tools. So, if you ever need to do some basic maintenance – or even complex maintenance, for that matter – then you can easily do so, without needing any tools or equipment.

The Worx WG430 is a great leaf mulcher/shredder. It’s super efficient and super easy-to-use.

So, Which One Should I Choose?

If you want the best possible mulcher, that depends on the kind of debris you have lying around, most often. If you have a lot of leaves, then go with the Worx WG430. If you have a lot of twigs and branches, then the Sun Joe CJ601E is the best choice.
